What to do with that old bridesmaid's dress:

***HALLOWEEN POST EVERY DAY IN OCTOBER -- DAY SIX***

Raise your hand if you have an ugly bridesmaid dress hanging in a closet or stuffed into a corner somewhere in your house?

!!!!!!! Wow. The breeze that raised up could have been a tropical storm.

Let me guess: someone who professed to be your friend made you wear it:
IN PUBLIC
FOR HOURS
IN FRONT OF EVERYONE
INCLUDING PROSPECTIVE BOYFRIENDS

AND THEN....

SHE HIRED SOMEONE TO TAKE PICTURES OF YOU
WEARING THAT MONSTROSITY
WHICH SHE WILL SHOW EVERYONE
AND POST ON FACEBOOK
SO YOU CAN NEVER SHOW YOUR FACE IN PUBLIC AGAIN.

To show your dear friend how much you love her, and how much you love the dress she selected with you specifically in mind, you should allow that dress (in all it's outdated splendor) to get out again. And again. And again.

My wonderful friend and former roommate K, who I even named a kid after, made me wear the dress below (I named the kid before I knew she was going to do this to me). She made me and the other bridesmaids sew them ourselves. It was 1991. If you ever invent a time machine, make sure that it is unable to return to 1991. Terrible things happened to clothing in 1991. No one wants to see it again.

Aren't we cute in our matching dresses! That's a very little Thing One as flower girl. Too bad you can't see the back. WHERE THERE IS A THREE FOOT WIDE BOW just to make my butt look bigger.

But I digress. I have loaned this costume SO. Many. TIMES. Because if you had to buy a pattern to be Little Bo Peep, you would buy this one. And make it up in this fabric. Because there is just no other way.

Every year my wonderful friend and former roommate K has a huge Halloween party at her house with 2 million people in attendance, and I wore this one year. She loved it, which is why I still love her. Dragged me around to show it off to all her friends who hadn't see her wedding pictures yet. Fail, perhaps?

This particular ocassion in the photo above wasn't Halloween. It was Fairy Tale Day at Kindergarten. As you can see, Screamapillar is wearing her older sister's Easter dress to be Little Miss Muffet. And that's some spider she's got there. eek.

Did anyone squish it? I must know. I hate to think it's running around the school somewhere...

But mom, you always told me that bridesmaid dresses were to scare off the evil spirits!

Oh, I so heart that big lace collar! Lovely! I remember 1991. Sad, it was a bad year for clothing...
